Profile & Contact

Welcome to my Profile and Contact page! Of course, you'd like to know a bit more who is behind this book blog. Aside from my name is Jennilyn and I live in the Philippines, here are some details about me:

I am an accountant by profession but I secretly want to be a celebrity frog, like Kermit.

My favorite color is green. Specifically, shades of mint green, teal green and olive green.

Because adulting happened, I have neglected my passion for reading for a very looong time. In an effort to atone for my despicable abandonment of all things bookish, I decided to do this blog. I vowed to wander the world of written words to discover my lost soul and continue my interrupted romance with reading. I may or may not be drawing parallelisms with RurouniKenshin here. That's how I probably got the name of this blog, RuruniJenniReads. *wink-wink*

It's ridiculous to pick book favorites but the The Harry Potter series is surely memorable for me. I've read them growing up with my sister and my three HS bestfriends. I guess it pretty much sealed the deal for me as a lifelong bookworm. If you're wondering what House I'm in, I am placed by The Sorting Hat Pottermore in Slytherin and I am mighty proud of it. (UPDATE: Re-sorted to Gryffindor, My Patronus is a heron.) My wand is 12 ¾ inches long, black walnut wood, dragon heartsring core, unyielding. Needless to say, YES I DO BELIEVE IN MAGIC!

Before the first HP book and in between releases of the sequels, I could read almost anything. I did classics to romance pocketbooks (yes, I started reading romance early) and everything in between. A classic book that left an indelible impression on me is "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens. It's a big book and I can't believe I've read it. I am not much of a reader of old books now but this one I want to re-read someday. I’ll be forever haunted by Miss Havisham. Poor old creepy hag. I think I can relate to her.

I also love films! I watch a mishmash of genres but quiet films are the best. Probably, the movie that I can watch over and over again is the Before trilogy directed by Richard Linklater (Boyhood, 2014) and starred in by Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke.

I invented and live by the saying that: "If you must learn the true meaning of love, own a cat." Thus, I have two!
